Meet Ben

Meditation Instructor, Breathwork

Ben has been a dedicated and passionate meditator for 40 years. In his 20’s, 30’s and 40’s he travelled to  week-long silent meditation retreats in Japan, India and Australia, sitting for countless hours with world-renowned Zen Buddist teachers. As he continues to deepen his practice both in daily life and on the cushion, he brings his stillness and presence and knowledge to the silent meditations evenings, one on one session and to our Waters Meet retreat experiences.

Ben has also spent the last decade exploring masculinity, and how to help other men get in touch with and express their inner worlds, especially their hidden emotions. The primary tool for this work is deep sharing circles. He has co-run numerous initiation weekends for lads and men, and recently formed a men’s group that gathers monthly at Waters Meet. He continues to explore what it means to him to be an open and vulnerable man, and how to encourage others to step out of their comfort zones. He and the other facilitators’ on these Tribal Bush Retreats are committed to holding space for you, gently guiding you to open yourself in ways you may not have been willing or able to do before.

Ben built every structure on the property, including their beautiful off-grid recycled straw-bale house. He is passionate about living lightly on the land, building community, and realising his dream of running a spiritual retreat centre. He supports Tamra in the shamanic breathwork they offer, guiding you home with the power of a rhythmic drum-beat.
